Greetings, I'm new here and have a Q re: schedule awards
I'm a USPS employee that sustained a back injury in 2007 while working in California but have since moved to Texas. After 5 surgeries (fusions and decompressions) my doctor has deemed me to have reached MMI. I have severe nerve damage in both legs and have, in my opinion, lost at least 50% function in both.

I am currently receiving OWCP and also have been accepted as permanantly disabled by Social Security. As a union steward for 25 years I thought it would be wise to apply for SSDI (for which I was immediately approved) so that I would not have a long struggle when the DOL kicked me to the curb. In retrospect it was not a very good idea as SSDI considers my OWCP benefits an "offset" therefore making my OWCP benefits taxable.

I would like to apply for federal jobs within my limitations and am wondering if I secure employment will I be able to collect my schedule award at the same time? Also, if I do not work and begin collecting SSDI may I collect my schedule award payment at the same time?

Thanks for your help, happy holidays!!![/font]

1711, Was the 89% a typo?? I thought it was 80%.

8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom.

I am now applying for a part time position with the NRC. If I am hired is the DOL obligated to pay me the difference in hours between a part time and a full time position? Assuming that they are, can I also file for my schedule award and would I receive both?
