What happens next
Hello all I am from florida this is my first time here or for that matter first time anywhere. And let me say thank you even if you can't answer my question. Ok here goes on Dec 13 2010 went to worker comp Doc and he told that i needed partial knee replacments on both knees and removed me from work. on Dec 17 2010 went to work to let them know before I could get a word out I was laid off . So i waited three weeks and called the adjuster to find out when we could get these surgeries done and the adjuster told me that they would not do them.to make this short I got a lawyer and won the medical part.still going to court for the back-pay.This is my main question after the surgeries if i dont have a job to go back to what happens then I am 46 years old and only did construction and my doctor told after i have the surgeries that i would have olny a 30% chance of doing construction again.

RE: What happens next
Sadly, those of us who get hurt on the job, and suffer a life-altering disabling condition have to improvise. It's probably a 50/50 thing as far as returning to the same job or same type of job. Having been in construction, have you considered trying to do Superintendent or Project Management work ? At your age, if that's all you've done, you probably have some very good time management and quality assurance skills that are valuable and marketable.

Find out from your Attorney whether or not Florida has Vocational Training available to you. That might be something you can consider.
