Cervical Injury
THe ACDF of C5-6 was in February, and perhaps I have been expecting to much to soon with the recovery but I am not happy with the recovery.

I still can not drive to Wichita, (a town about 35 miles away) without major pain and headaches following the trip. I drove to Wichita Wednesday and could feel the muscles tensing up on the way home, by evening I had a migraine. Today my blood pressure was 156/120, very high for me due to the neck pain.

I still have the pain going down the arm and weakness.

The EMG/NCT done last month was abnormal related to the C-6.

My medical doctor wants to do another MRI next month prior to the return to the neurosurgeon in September.

Perhaps I am expecting to much to soon with the ACDF.

Any thoughts?

RE: Cervical Injury
I did not start this thread to complain, truth is I do not know what to expect 6 months out from the ACDF surgery.

Is it normal to still have migraines?

My uncle's birthday is tomorrow, he is in a nursing home about 90 minutes from here and I am wanting to go see him tomorrow. Some of the migraines are connected to driving and I am just so frustrated because I will end up with another migraine if I make that trip.

Kathy, all I can tell you is to wear your rice bag around your neck while in the car...take a pain pill about an hour before you leave this gives your body an hour to relax before getting in the car....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: Cervical Injury
I ended up not going to see my uncle today, I did not want to get in a situation being that far from home with a migraine.

My younger sister may go with me in a few days to see my uncle, this is the sister whos husband's died Oct 2010 in a hunting accident.

Today is not only my uncles and my Dad's birthday (twins), but it is my sister's husband's birthday along with my daughter's future husband's birthday. Four family member's birthdays on the same day, that is one big cake!
