Sad RE: everyone give update pLeAsE
I was injured at work 1/07 and ended up the ortho doc diagnosed me with thumb arthritis. Then had 2 emg's that showed mild carpal tunnel. Wrist is delayed. Still dropping things. Had PT/OT done for 6 months with no relief on my hand and shoulder. Now back to work in a different dept. doing light duty one handed with no repetition for one week sofar. Giving my notice to my employer this week for a new job ( different career) due to my injuries. I will be making more money and under the doctors restrictions also at this new job. My therapies have ended and i am left to heal on my own now with no further treatments. I go back to the pain clinic soon for refill on meds and that is about it.

Thinking of getting a lawyer now to be compinsated for my loss of my career. Wish me luck. Still in pain 24/7 with no relief.

RE: everyone give update pLeAsE
Here's the update on my husband.........
Original injury on October 4th, 2006 - fall from ladder - shattered right heel and crushed right ankle joint. Went through 12 weeks PT from Oct through Dec, then had to wait until April for surgery to fuse ankle joint (had to wait for bones to heal to have something to put the screws into). Several more weeks of PT after surgery. Into 2nd week of waiting on W/C to approve additional PT perscribed by dr. We have an CME on 9-4. Also, just found out that due to severe limp and being in a cast for such a long time - we are now dealing with degenerative scoliosis. Regular treatment from the chiropractor should be able to help the problem - but we are having to pay for it out of pocket. My husband is being hounded by w/c about finding another job (since the dr's told him he will never be able to go back to working where he was) but he is having a really hard time finding someone to hire him while he is involved in w/c. Meanwhile, I'm working two jobs and may soon have to find a third because the TTD payments just aren't enought to cover everything. (My husband was working two jobs when he was injured and he is only getting TTD for one of them.)

RE: everyone give update pLeAsE
I gave my notice to HR today and sat down and talked with her about everything with the light duty being to far to drive because it is now 30 mins more to drive to work making it a hour 1/2 one way. She said that i do still get my medical covered and medicine. I am not sure if i still go to the doc and they get me at MMI if i will recover any award for my injuries. That is really not my main concern, although i would like to be compensated for my loss. My main concern is getting fixed with my injury.

If anyone knows if i would or not i would be curious though. Like i said in all my post, i am not sure how this system works, but knew i could give my notice to my employer if i want a new job within my restrictions. I have read that before somewhere on the NH site for workers comp, either way i cannot drive 3 hours a day 5 days a week like they have me at now driving one handed. This could of went on for another year doing this light duty that far. I was also only working 4 hours a day, and 3 hours of driving. I was driving almost as much as i was working. Plus costing me a fortune in gas without being reimbursed for the xtra half hour drive.

My new job is with my husband which will be doing all the driving to and from work each day. I will be making more money than i did at this job, so they do not have to make up the difference of pay like i had read somewhere also. I know i did the right thing for my health, and if anything, all i care about being healed. I am seeing the doc the end of the week for occupational health and asking to go to full time.

I think he should be able to put me at that, and i am sure w/c would be pleased that they would not have to make up the difference of hours per week from my light duty anymore. So this should work out for us both. I will keep everyone informed of what will happen next.

RE: everyone give update pLeAsE
Sparkey,

W/C will not compensate you for your career loss, as it was your decision to quit at your old job and find a new one. With you making more at the new job, they (W/C) will not look at it as a loss, but a positive move for you. You should still be covered as far as medical and prescriptions goes though, until you are declared MMI. But don't be surprised if once you are declared MMI and possibly given a permanent disablity rating, that W/C uses the fact that you were able to find new employment at a higher pay rate against you in settlement talks.

RE: everyone give update pLeAsE
As i posted earlier on another post, i reached MMI today. Everyone in the room was very happy for me and i agreed with them that i am able to work 40 hours a week now and the doctor still gave me limitations by law. He also mentioned a lump sum settlement that i will be recieving and asked the NCM to get together an appt. for body percentage rating. They have me as upper extremety neuropathy Right side. That is my dominant side and i am sure it goes by profession loss and age at time of injury. I am curious now what they will offer. The medical is being left open as i am left to heal in time. There is nothing more they can do for me the doctor said. I will still be seeing pain management. I am trying to find the post that has percentage ratings, and cannot seem to find it. GRRRRRRR!
