Morphine ER experience
I was having skin irritation from the Fentanyl Patch. My PM Doctor put me on Morphine ER 30 mg 2x a day. The Morphine sucked.

It severely constipated me; It did not work as well for pain as the Fentanyl Patch. I was very displeased. I have never had these isuues on this scale with the Fentanyl Patch.

Went back to Fentanyl Patch. The constipation is already better 12 hours later and my pain level and overall "feeling" is much better. I will deal with the skin irritation... SmileSmile

Never again Morphine you plugging turd.

RE: Morphine ER experience
Freebird- oral pain meds have more of a constipation factor than other forms of pain meds. There are many things you can do to lessen the constipation - fiber, exercise, water, prune juice, stool softeners, more water, etc...

What are you trying to help with the skin irritation for the fentanyl patch? I'm also highly sensitive to adhesive in anything - medical tape, medication patches..etc...remember to change the sites and rotate them each time you change a patch. Especially if you have irritation, this will give the irritated sites a chance to heal. There are little packets of adhesive remover you can get at medical supply stores that will help with removing the patch and making sure that all the adhesive is off when you remove the patches. I am not sure of the price, but you can find them at any medical supply stores, it can really help with cutting down on irritation.
Also, you can use some skin prep which protects the skin but you have to be very exact and precise with putting this on because you do not want to block the area on your skin where the medication is released.

Good luck!
Take care
Dina
