Problem with secondary QME request
Hi everyone,

These claims occurred in California. I opened a claim for a repetative motion injury of my arms. In the meantime, I had some psychiatric issues stemming from my disability and from work (the same workplace where my arms were injured) and that claim was accepted as well. A QME report was completed for my psychiatric issue last year. This year the adjustor is requesting a QME for my arms as I was deemed permanent and stationary by my chiropractor. I immediately sent in the request for a QME with a panel of chiropractors. I just received in the mail a panel for psychiatrists even though my psychiatric claim has been closed and the settlement is currently being paid out. The reasoning given in the letter is that the psychiatrist from my original QME last year should be utilized.

I've read in WC literature that you're only allowed to have one QME despite having two separate injuries. Is this true and if so what would be my next course of action?

I really appreciate any help you might give me.

RE: Problem with secondary QME request
if you don't agree you can object to the QME choices.

there could be a psychiatric component to your arm injuries and a psychiatric evaluation could be necessary to determine that.
