I saw on another thread that you were injured while working as a teacher with the early childhood population, 3-5 yrs.
I also was injured while working as a teacher with this age group. My injury happened in 2005 while working with a 3 yr old special needs student. A physical therapist working with me shares, teachers and nurses are two professions with the highest work comp injuries for women. That makes sense as I was the 2nd of 4 teachers injured within 3 months with my employer, a 2 year college. One injury was a head injury, 2 were back injuries, my injury; bilateral knees and back. |

Yes, I did work in an early childhood education setting. It is tremendously physical. You wouldnt really think that but once you get in there it is strenuous.I can see how many people end up injured. I am not sure how many other teachers have been injured where I worked. As far as I know it I am the first to be out for going on a year and I can tell my employer has never dealt with anything like this before. My injury was first diagnosed as a low back sprain/strain. But has since been changed to SI Joint Dysfunction, due to it going out of place as frequent as it is. Right now though I feel as if something else is going on . So far they have only looked into bone issues and have not looked too far into it being anything muscular or ligament related. It feel like I have a tight rubber band going down the back of my leg to my knee. As of recently I have not been able to straighten my leg out completely and have to walk with my leg bent a little. Tried to point and flex my foot yesterday and I could not do it, toes ended up curling when pointed and pain when flexed. I am not sure what it going on but wish I could get some answers. Sorry for ranting on, I know this has little to do with WC but rather how I am feeling. It is hard to deal with an injury no one can see physically. |
