Pain Management visit
Hello. I just received a call scheduling me for my 1st pain management appointment. I was told it is a consultation only & to expect to be there between 1-1 1/2 hours. I am a nervous wreck & the appointment isn't until next Friday, March 4th. I have severe anxiety/depression anyway, but now I am freaking out. Can anyone tell me what to expect? I dislike surprises. I am fearful of anybody touching my hands. I was referred there by my hand surgeon/doctor. Posting from NY.

Wish I could say for sure how your appt will go but I can tell you I would be a mess without my PM doc. He has been the best thing to happen in my case. Hope your visit goes well and he can provide you help in dealing with your pain

Thanks for responding! I get really bad anxiety now going to new places and meeting new people. Before all of this, I was so out going, loved to be around people and boy, have things changed for me. I hope it goes well too. Maybe they have some different tricks up their sleeve to help me with this pain!

RE: Pain Management visit
A good PM doc can help you manage the pain. Not saying they can take away all the pain but just be honest with them and they can help. Mine has always believed in me and my injury and has fought very hard for any treatment I needed and WC didn't want me to have. I hope you can find a good one that can help you as well

My pain management Doctor is the best Doctor I have ever seen. He REALLY cares about my well being and I know he tries his very best to help me. We haven't had much success but neither one of us has given up. Good luck to you :-)
