I posted this on another thread, wanted to make sure you were able to read it without it being lost.
............................................................................................... I called the hospital where I had physical therapy and talked to the billing department. I learned physical therapy was not billed as a work comp injury. When I spoke with the office person at the hospital that deals with BCBS and explained the insurance company refused payment of the bill, she called BCBS. With the 3 of us on the line, BCBS asked me several questions, what was being treated, was it my knee, was my back an injury or illness? After answering their questions BCBS said they would pay the PT bill, big relief, the bill was $2,000.00. This afternoon I had my appointment at the Joint & Spine Institute. I did as you said Red, put everything in writting, esplained how far I could walk, and rated the pain. Did this for, sitting, & sleeping. I am already under orders of no bending. The letter physical therapy wrote was not in the file so the doctor did not see it before he saw me. I did call PT, gave them the fax number and requested the letter be faxed ASAP. When I left I did notice the letter sitting on the doctor's desk. I am scheduled for another MRI and will see the doctor for the results. Here are my measurments from my last PT eval, not for sure what they mean. Lumbar Extension - 25 Flexion - 45 Side Flexion - 35 both Abdominals strength - 3/5 Thanks, Bummer Knees |

RE: Red
Red, I do hope you are doing okay, I worry about you everyday.
I also went to my primary care physican today. My blood pressure is up due to the pain 158/92, no medication. My blood pressure is usually on the low side. The doctor also gave me a RX for Lyrica, for nerve pain. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomical_terms_of_motion Hi Bummer, I am really sorry but I lost what I wrote twice after I returned home and now I am going to do it again...I hope I don't loose this again. flexion - is an movement that decreases an angle...for instance, when you move your hand toward toward your body, you have flexion in your elbow.. when you move your hand away from your body you have extension. Flexion and extension is not so clearly defined as toward the body or against the body in some instances. For example, since PT is referring to your lumbar region which is around your waist, then they are referring to reflexion as movement at your waist to bend backward or forward. If referring to extention of your waist then they are talking about the ability of the back/waist/lumbar region to maintain a straight posture. In your case, your you have scores, the scores are relevant only for measurement against what is normal, and I don't remember those scores. I will have to try to find them. The last score of 3/5 speaks not to range of motion, but to stenghtenting. For instance, how strong is a particular muscle or groups of mucsles. In this case they documented a 3 speaking about your lumbar region again... which basically means that you have typical movement to gravity, but it resistance is applied you are unable to move what ever is trying to get in your way. The desired score would be 5/5. I am not sure that this will make sense to you, but the web sites that I listed above has a lot of great easy to read information for you. Let me know if you have any other questions. I will try to find the normal values for a lumbar region range of motion. Red is not always a case of moving toward and away from a body for instance, your situation is talking about movement I think at your waste.. Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. |

RE: Red
Hi Bummer,
Everything is cool. Had to order a lift for our explorer to haul the electric w/c in, and had to see a social worker and the neurologist again.. nothing new not really. Thank you for asking that is so sweet.. I am so thankful to have met such wonderful and caring people has I have on here...actually one thing did happen. I saw my PCP in Women's Health today and she said, what is going on, you are so much better than I have seen you in 2 years...and I said, FRIENDS... and this chat forum. She likes my art so I told her about what the games and discussions and online family. Even mentioned a possible trip to where ever it is that Spring is taking me too in this motor home she has planned...that should be great..heheh.. Bummer if you have any more questions do not hesitate to ask. I don't always have the answers but I can do my best...
