Legality Question
My Illinois employer recently enacted a policy that states that if I am injured while at work, I will have to pay for the ambulance ride or my significant other will have to be contacted to give me a ride to receive emergency services. Is this legal?

RE: Legality Question
Welcome to the forum.

I would think this is a question for 1171.

Don't know if the policy is legal or not, but if I were injured and needing to go to the hospital I would go no matter what policy is in place, the politics can be settled later.

RE: Legality Question
unless there has been a recent change in workers compensation law, that is not something employers get to decide. what is and is not covered is controlled by the state laws.

it's rare that an ambulance would be called for a work injury.
if the employee didn't request that one be called, they can't be held legally liable under current law
you can contact the illinois industrial commission to see if there has been a recent change in the comp laws covering such an issue.
