4-Week Pain Mgmt/Rehabilitation Questions...
I live in Idaho but was injured in Oregon. Today I started a "LifeFit" program that will be 20 straight visits, 5 days a week and about 6 hours per day. I will see an Occupational Therapist, Psychiatrist, Rehab Specialists, Ortho Specialist and a program counselor almost every day.

This program in big on getting people off their narcotic pain relievers and onto lesser forms of pain relief and it seems like they feel pain is all in your head. I have tried a lot of other types of pain relief for my lower back/SI joint and none have worked.

My main question is can I trust this type of program to concentrate on my rehabilitation and to actually care/help me with my pain...narcotics or not.....or....can this program be set up to get me off my narcotics and onto something else whether they work or not and put me back to work when its over...even if I don't get better.

Part of me trusts what everyone at this rehab hospital is saying and part of me knows they are in my IC's provider network and they may have their own agenda. Does anyone feel like they may take better care of the IC than me? I hate to be paranoid but I am learning alot from being out of work for 8 months...I keep feeling more and more on my own and right now I feel like I am involved in something that may benefit the IC more than me...but not sure. Any thoughts or ideas?

RE: 4-Week Pain Mgmt/Rehabilitation Questions...
Try it... just getting out and around people helps lift depression which in turn helps pain.....you may not be able to do what you did before but then again you may..... give it a chance......if you go into it with a "it cant work attitude" then it wont.....Lord knows you will do better dollar wise to be back at work.....if you can stand it...good luck....positive attitude will help.....if not then they wont be able to say you didnt try....

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: 4-Week Pain Mgmt/Rehabilitation Questions...
injuredinidaho, As with Jayne said and when you go make sure you tell them if your pain is incresing. And of course the ins is going to bennifit, as well as you too. I as well as many here have been through hard times dealing with pain, narcotics are bad and if there is a chance to lessen the amount or even perhaps get you off of them, the better you will feel and thats if your pain levels allow it. I also went through somthing similar to you but mine was called work hardening. Which was 5 days a week and only 4 hrs and lasted 6 weeks. My daily routine was as soon as I arived I did stretching excersises, then did some core building, and misc things and then I had aqua therapy which was very relaxing and soothing for my low back. And then Had softissue massage and that was the extent for 6 weeks....

There were plenty of days I thought I was going to die (pain) but soon realized it was helping. I looked forward to going because it gave me somthing to do to occupy my time and keep my self from being stressed/depressed...
You wont know if you dont try........I wish you good luck...

I agree with all of the others, but beware what you say, and never do anything that could cause your pain to increase just take your time since you have plenty to reach the level that you are maxed at so they realize that is the real ability that you can do. good luck
