RE: Need some advice...
First I must say, you need to put you family first and if they are not paying any bennifits and are not able to work then ssdi may be the best choice. From what I have read and heard from others some law firms try to get wc settled first. Some are reasons that keep clients intrests and some are just for thier big pay out... I am sort of in the same boat, I am off work for back problems and collecting ttd and drs feel I may not return to any work. With my injury I injured many different body parts and have been at mmi for Shoulder/nerve damage to hand which I collected ppd for. And now my back, which has been reopened from aggravation. I still have my hip / pelvis and neck which was added a while back. I see my orthapedic surgeon Nov 8th which will be my 3 year mark and probably be placed at mmi... I still am being treated for my neck and back which I am told at least a year until mmi on them, Unless wc sends me to one of thier drs and says else wise....
So there is varibles involved on why my lawyer wants me to wait for ssdi. My problem is I have worked a lot of cash jobs and even though I am self employed and still fell in a loop hole I was able to get wc bennifits. I have been self employed since 1988 and make a good living but, with all the mileage deductions and expences It dont show me making enough. And when ssdi figures out my previous wages I'm lucky if I get $500 a month. So its in my best interest to settle wc first, but if need be they will help me with my ssdi claim........ |
