I have now had my mmi rating and they have contacted me about vocational training. I have been wo pay for 4 months. I qualify for the maxium percentage ion my knee but will have either tkr or pain possiblky both for the rest of my life, Wasnt even told by anyone to apply for ssi till a few months ago. I was niave and trusted the devil and now payin for it. Should I get lawyer who can i see? what is a settlement and ppd ?

RE: west virginia mountains of problems
welcome to the forum....so sorry you fell thru the cracks...it happens to many of us...you should file for not only SSI but SSDI and pronto most likely both will be filed at the same time at your SS office.....you can file online or in person I like the in person myself but to each his own......however check on line to see everything you need to take with you...it can be a long process....goodluck

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile

RE: west virginia mountains of problems
of course workcomp wont tell you about ssdi if you get it it hurts them. number one it gives you another avenue for health care (medicare) and they can no longer use their threats of doing what they say or they'll cut off your medical benefits and number two they will have to repay medicare back for any expenses deemed work related.
trust me workcomp is only out for them and what keeps the most amount of money in their pocket--despite what is wrong with the injured

good luck

cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: west virginia mountains of problems
The two major problems facing W.V. today are budget crises and economic development. These are political problems that come from many different sources and are hard for politicians to correct using only political
means.

Budget crises may start at the national government level by states not getting enough funds from the government and therefore not having enough money for its many divisions. Many times, a state will continue to develop a "maxed out" budget plan that does not allow any room for surprise costs. W.V. is no exception. Often West Virginia's budget shows huge amounts of debt (currently $6 billion) and there is not any surefire way of improving it. ,..copied

RE: west virginia mountains of problems
workers comp benefits are financed by premiums paid by west virginia employers; no state $$ involved.
