RE: Settlement and future comp
What WC doesn't cover public aid does. Only problem is they don't cover everything. Had sleep study done about a month ago and have sleep apnea but how ever they rate things I don't have it bad enough for them to cover it.
Life after a WC injury is never a good place to be. So many think it's the easy life but it's more like being retired on a very low fixed income. Think they only ones that make out okay are the ones that get a bad injury but not too bad they can't fix it but then the company gives you a nice settlement and you go on with your normal life. But those that will live with pain everyday of the rest of their life would give up 100 times the amount of any settlement they get to be able to live without the pain. It's just something you will have to live with because WC being a no fault system we are stuck. |

RE: Settlement and future comp
I would give my settlement back anyday to be back at work pain free......
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Settlement and future comp
Manley2, I completly agree with your analogy. "So many think it's the easy life but it's more like being retired on a very low fixed income.".
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

RE: Settlement and future comp
Well hopefully you will not have to. Not sure what you did for a living but maybe you can still find a good job with your injury. It is devastating but with help you can learn to live with anything.

I can relate to this, even though I was paid ttd from the get go, I had side jobs (cash ) We lost about 2,500 a month in income.... we struggled for almost a year and was able to return to work and put everything to bills to catch up. Credit card companies worked out payment plans to get out of collections and all was going good. Untill a few months ago drs pulled me from work again and they think for good. Now we lost our medical ins and cant afford some of my asthma meds. The wifes truck she uses for work has over 200,000 miles and needs about $2,000 in repairs. Life of someone who has been injured at work just plain out sucks, people think its a picnic untill they have to put on our shoes, then reality sinks in... There is no money in the world would I would trade for just being able to work and be pain free.... |
