Lefty from CO., good morning.
I was placed at MMI in 5/2010 for left upper extremity injury (dated 11/2008). Was placed on w/c maintenance program which during such time on 7/10, had new findings of CRPS. W/C okay'ed Ganglion Block, but on the day of procedure it had to be put on hold due to medical emergency of chest pressure and high blood pressure during pre-op. One of the nurses asked the doctor how should i travel, he said by car was fine. My son was there and did drive me to the Emergency room. Where I had a one night stay for observation of symptoms, and pain. The out come was that there wasn't anything Cardiac wrong (thank God) and that the pressure was due to the Reflux because I've been on certain medications given my w/c doctors for injury pain. These medications as well as my new condition has caused my pre-exciting high blood pressure to continue to elevate dangerously! I finally had the Ganglion Block done, last week...with a post-op visit for next week. Don't know if many of you know much about CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome), and maybe that does, or doesn't matter when it comes to my question which is this. Will I be responsible for the ER visit's cost, and hospital stay? Since the CRPS is a new finding, was the SGB considered something done as maintenance? I don't believe that it should be considered maintenance, nor should I have to foot the bill of the hospital stay. Will get records from the hospital to send to my attorney. Injury date 11/2008; left upper extremity; CRPS; bilateral cubital tunnel syndrome; carpal tunnel syndrome. |

RE: Is Stellate Ganglion Block Considered Maintenace?
If the medication given you caused the high pressure then wc might pay, if it wasn't then you pay, or if said something related to your injury caused the high pressure then again wc should pay. other then that, it's a major guess.
