RE: PD has started....
Bad Boy, sounds like you have been through the ringer. IC, I assume is WC? So if they cut you off, how do you survive? I always wonder that, when they cut you off, and they say you will not work again, how do the expect you to live!? I assume Disability but even that is not much. I know I sound like money is on my mind, but it is with not knowing the future. My kids were asking about how long we will live in the house we are in now, it is not bad, but we used to have property and a much nicer house and now we rent a small house. It is hard because I don't have the answers. That is so awesome the relationship you have with your atty!! Ours is nice enough but can be very snappy and irritable. If it wasn't over 2 yrs into it, I would change, and he has done a lot of good for us. Re your settlement, are they just not offering you what you want? Do you think it will be anytime soon? I wish there was somewhere that laid out the way the 'system' goes. I have read a lot and it is so complicated and not any case is the same, but just knowing that we will only get the money for 104 weeks THEN the $230. Also, I didn't know my husband could apply for Social security Disability. I thought there was only State disbility. I don't know the actual names of each. Anyways, I just filed for the social security ones and wished I would have earlier. Anyways. now I have to wait 6 months to hear anything!! Also, we just found out that WC has been going to some of the parts houses in our town asking about my husband. That is fine because he has not worked but it made my hubby feel paranoid to know someone may be watching him, even though he doesn't even do anything to worry about. Does anyone have any idea how much they can invade in your lives? Just curious. Can they tap your phones? Like I said, nothing to hide, but makes you feel a little like your privacy is being invaded. 1171, don't worry, I agree totally, it is a big business. Thanks again ,for you time!!

RE: PD has started....
First off;

((Also, we just found out that WC has been going to some of the parts houses in our town asking about my husband)))

It's not uncommon for work comp IC to hire a PI to see what he has been doing.

But, let me say this, I too was followed around by Social Security, I know this, be cause they told me straight out afterwards.

How do you surive this mess, it isn't easy. But, if adjust fast and quick, it helps make it work. Trust me, I had resources to fall back on. And yes the exhausted as well. What was good, they got us through rough times at important times. The rest is all in the adjustments made. You will eat and shop different, turn lights off. I remember 1 year we didn't turn the Air Conditioner on in the house at all, to cut back. Just had to do, what had to be done. Making cut backs is a major must do. Plus, I was very lucky to have a understanding wife that has a very good job that pays very well.

I highly ever doubt we will see any injured worker ever say they went through easy times when on work comp.

RE: PD has started....
Thank you Jayne, it is refreshing to hear all of your stories. I was a stay at home wife, and did everything, was involved in the school, church and sports with my kids. My husband worked HARD and I tried to make his life easy. It is a switch now. He never had vacation days and worked so much. I now am a special ed aid at school and don't make a lot of money, so yes, we are learning to pinch. The A/C, I live in Redding where it is 110 today, so that would be very hard for me but if I had to, I would. WOW, 8 kids!! That is hard with your injury. You settled at 2 years after you injury? That is amazing!! That would not happen in Calif! I think the hardest part is the denying. Of meds and help. They have stopped my husbands seizure meds 2 times now! WHY? Crazy! Bad Boy, that is good that you had resources, we did but 6 months before this we tapped into it not knowing the future. We will make it. Right now I am only getting my husbands $230 a week and we are waiting to hear from Disability from State, is that SSI? Or SDI? Anyways, a bit scary and we are not suppose to hear from SSDI until Nov! I should have filed a long time ago but was under the impression that if he was getting WC $$ that I couldn't file. So if he is accepted, the will retro act it, so that will help alot. I will check out the other forums, thanks!! You all are so nice and helpful on here. I can't believe that SS followed you too. I guess there is so much fraud. That is fine. My husband has done nothing so I am not concerned but it still makes you feel weird to think someone is watching you. Thanks again!!
