old knee injury claims
Hello, am wondering about two old knee injury claims. One in Jan. of 1984 and one in Feb. of 2001. Both were permanent partial disabilities. I received awards at the time but have never settled these claims. Who has these claims now and how do I go about settlement?

RE: old knee injury claims
the original carrier has these claims. whether they have any additional liability depends on your state's comp laws.

Explain what you mean by received awards? Is that a dollar amount?

Yes, that was a dollar amount. I received 10% permanent partial disability on the 84 injury and 3% on the 2001 injury. As far as I know these dollar amounts were not a settlement of the claim.

they were the disability portion of the claim. whether there is any remaining liability for medical depends on your states comp laws.
even if there were you would not seem to be in need and therefore of little settlement value.

I had thought Awards are close to the same as a settlement. Or an Award applies money to the person, and is then removed from the settlement amount. Awards could be a close settlement, leaving hardly no funds left in the settlement.
