do I need a lawyer yet
I'm on work comp. Had 3 mth therapy & drugs for wrong diagnoses, sent for emg showed mild cts. Sent to orth, spec. needed surgery for
cnc joint replaced, trigger finger, severe cts w/ total thumb muscle wasting. Went to IME he was in total agreement but thought I neede immediate surgery.WC finally okayed surgery 2 months later. I have all doc, & IME letter, xrays. I'm closed to as full a healing as I will get. I won't have a job because there is no light duty. Its 50lbs and i might get 20lb back. Should I wait for settlement offer or get a lawyer now??? HELP |

RE: do I need a lawyer yet
you can get a free consult from most WC lawyers if you have had no problems with them so far paying I wouldnt worry over 90 percent of claims go thru with no problems....need your state to help more
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: do I need a lawyer yet
Sorry I'm in Illinois. So far no problem with them other than taking so long to get surgery. I also won't be able to do many things I used to do which really upsets me, and I have a feeling that probably won't matter to wc. Thanks

RE: do I need a lawyer yet
In NY, the minute the IME says you can do light duty, they seem to cut your check in half. There is no light duty where I work, but the Judge doesn't seem to care about that. The IME says I can do certain things even though my doctor (a neurosurgeon) says otherwise. Good luck. Trish

RE: do I need a lawyer yet
i personally would get an attorney just for the simple fact that theres so much they can do for you that the average person just dosent know about like they have an idea of what you should be paid for your injury and will push for that..you may need retaraining and they will fight for that you may need further treatment and they can get you that ..atleast do what jayne said and talk with one my lawyer has been a godsend and i dont know what i would have done without him..and my case just like your has went very smoothly no probs whatsoever..good luck
SETTLED!!! |

RE: do I need a lawyer yet
The ILLinois Work Comp system was built around attorney's. It is well said, you wont get far here in ILL without an attorney when it comes to a settlement. But, you can just wait it out for awhile and see if a settlement offer comes your way.
EXAMPLE only; Look for between $10,000.00 to $15,000.00 without an attorney, anything lower find an attorney. If your using the chicago downtown Work Comp office you can also contact me Via PM, and I will help you obtain a fully well known, one of the best attorney's here in the city. If not, calls are cheap... here at the Board also there are a full list of attorney's also.http://www.workerscompensation.com/datacentral/datasource.cgi Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. RE: do I need a lawyer yet
Hi again, I thought of one more question. Has anyone else had three surgeries, cts, cnc and trigger at the same time? My therapist says he has never worked on anyone in my situation. Now I'm curious. Thanks from Illinois.

Curious about what?
Will it increase your settlement? Not likely though. The lost of usage makes up what your settlement will be. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes.
