Sad Back surgery, going to lose everything
Sad
I am new to this site... First let my say... I don't know what to do!
I was injured in Sept. 2009 while at work. I wasn't familiar w/ how wc worked and didn't do anything or report anything. Neither did my boss! She was fully aware of what happened! I went to the Doctor and was referred to a specialist, my boss made me miss many appt. and I continued to work injured until Dec. 2009. I had enough and was in serious pain the whole time so... Finally when I did go to the specialist, she took me out of work. At that point I did not know how bad it was. I had an MRI and it showed I have a herniated disc in my lower back. I have been going to the Dr for different type of injections ever since. Now the only option I really have is back surgery... During this time I have have had NO INCOME and am a single mother of 3. I never filed workers comp. because I didn't know how it worked and my boss told me I didn't qualify for it... (she said she talked to her insurance person.)
Boy do I feel stupid now! I am about to lose what little I do have and know there has to be something I can do.... Please does anyone have more knowledge??? Is there a time limit on filing? I don't know what to do! I am a 32 yr. old preschool teacher who has ran out of options!!!!!Sad

RE: Back surgery, going to lose everything
well hopefully what you can do is speak to a few lawyers and see what your options are...and when and if you do decide to hire a lawyer hopefully he/she can get you back pay on all yout ttd from the day you were injured you are intilted to all of that the lawyer keeps a precentage of it but with having no income the past several months im sure you could use it...id like to welcome you to the forum there are alot of ppl here who know tons about work comp issues so if you need to know anything this is prolly the place you wanna ask the questions...keep us up to date on how things go..take care

SETTLED!!!

RE: Back surgery, going to lose everything
you probably still have time to file although it likely that the claim will have to be litigated.
time limits are different in each state so can't be more specific without knowing yours
