torn labrum in Illinois
Recently I was told that I was not participating in the Pt and I became furious by the false reply. I really cant decide whether it would be better to get it fixed or not. I read many testimonys that have trouble after wards . I am near 50 in a couple of years and its hard to beleive something could happen like this.
A patient fell on my arm while it was relaxed and then yanked the hehockey sticks out of it. I was pressed around and lied to. My concern is if I settle will i be able to get a job ?? Or will I go on disabilty ? They surely want to get out of the surgery deal knowing I probably wont be able to work there. i lost 2 jobs and 2 retirement funds, one with education and said they will not compensate my other job even with settlement. They are using a history against such as depression blah blah in which their wcsurgeon said it wont help me. They want someone else to settle the bill while they are at fault. Question is it true they dont have to compensate my loss of a 2nd job that paid for my education? Question - will anyone hire me ? Maybe I should settle take the money and return to school on it and take my chances. The amount of money offered is not enough for what ridiculous hoops they are putting me through. |

RE: torn labrum in Illinois
if you settle medicare will not pick up treatment.
settlement is limited to work comp benefits: wage loss, treatment & impairment. |

RE: torn labrum in Illinois
The treatment depends upon which kind of tear there is in the labrum. Tears that are due to instability of the shoulder, either subluxation or dislocations, require that the labrum be reattached to the rim of the socket. This can be done with an incision on the front of the shoulder, or it can be done with arthroscopic techniques through smaller incisions. There are advantages and disadvantages of each approach (see Patient Guide to Shoulder Instability). At this institution we favor an open operation with an incision until arthroscopic techniques become more perfected.
If the labrum is frayed, usually no treatment is necessary since it doesn’t usually cause symptoms. However, if there is a large tear of the labrum, the torn part should either be cut out and trimmed, or it should be repaired. Which treatment is used depends upon where the tear is located and how big it is. This type of tear requiring repair without instability of the shoulder is rare. Tears of the labrum near the biceps tendon attachment (SLAP lesions) may be just trimmed or may need to be reattached to the top of the socket. The best way to do this is with arthroscopic surgery since this area is difficult to reach with an open operation through a large incision. Using the arthroscope and small incisions for other instruments, the labrum can be re-attached to the rim of the socket using either sutures or tacks. http://www.hopkinsortho.org/labrum_tear.html In Illinois, the work comp system can be very tricky, meaning it is mostly based around Attorney's. In Illinois, it is best said, to obtain an Attorney well know to perform Work Comp issues. If the Tear is one that doesn't require surgery, then PT is the treatment. That and medication. In Illinois, you can ask for Voc Rehab, where they will help you find employment. They wont pay for school unless they can't help you find employment through the Voc Rehab process first. But, if you have problems now, how is school going to help you? You need an Attorney... Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. RE: torn labrum in Illinois
Thanks so much in advance for the info.
Good to know. So even if I decide to move to Iowa it doesnt matter I can go through voc rehab due to which they are using my depression against me anyway./ bipolar bummer I refuse to do nothing and I am at use for people in the community for various things that are verbal not physical. Illinois wc is tricky in the way that your time is cut along with ability to continue on a path to support myself when my tare has not been fixed. Wc pissed off my surgeon when they went looking for a 2nd opinion. I have to move on I guess I m not going to waste my precious life over the forces that want to control my destiny through a injury that happened . They are at fault and they are not giving my job back to me. So i am going to live the best outcome . dealing life on lifes term. |

RE: torn labrum in Illinois
My most recent Ortho Exam this year, lead to Shoulder issues.
Tendonitis, and maybe a Rotator Cuff tear. Of course I don't want another surgery. As I had enough Cervical surgeries with now a 6 level fusion. My treating Doctor and Surgeon, have always taught me to learn the area before ever making the next medical move. My Ortho sirgeon said attempt PT with shoulder first. So, I do my own PT here at home. It's not hard to learn home PT, just some simple research is all. The rest is you have to want to do it. Now also, many here had shoulder problems, and I have some relatives with shoulder problems. So I research is all. Then try to use what I learn when I can with others.
