RE: need advice ASAP please
If I were you I would call the Dr. that did the surgery and speak directly with him. Since it is youre knee and you are in pain you need to be the one to speak up for yourself. Nothing to be ashamed about here. I would think depending upon the severity of the surgery it is normal. But then again I am no Doctor. Give him a call maybe he can give you some meds to ease the pain if it is normal. hope you Feel better Joe

RE: need advice ASAP please
Sis
If your knee swollen, red, is this a change in the pain from over the past couple of weeks? If it is then I would call the doctor. Have you just started PT? If so that may be the reason behind it being more painful - or are you just now putting full weight on the knee for the first time since the surgery? there are lots of questions as you can see and I am sure the nurse will ask you these as well. But do call especially if it is swollen, red or I think hot or cold to the touch - these are signs something else may be going on. The others may just be from not being used for the past couple of weeks and the muscles still are healing from the surgery - but always better to be on the safe side. Good luck with your call tomorrow. |

@sis249, I had Knee surgery in 2000, Weight bearing was very painful for about 5-6 week,s,I was using crutches for about a month, In your case,(time wise) this sound,s normal, The best cure I found was to Ice Pack it when it,s painful.

If it gets to the point where the pain is severe then go to ER. Better to be safe and they can give you something for pain. |

RE: need advice ASAP please
I had knee surgery in 2003, and yes it was still painfull after 2 weeks. Like someone has already said keep it iced call your surgeon ask him is this normal. Everyone heals differently lot of factors invovled age, amount of damage before surgery and so on. I was in some type of pain or other for about 3 months from my knee surgery. But not nearly as bad as the first couple of weeks after the surgery. Good luck and I hope you feel better.
