questions
i just broke my finger at work today and my employer sent me to the urgent care with a check rather than submit a claim. if a claim had been submitted would cost of prescriptions have been covered, and should I have been paid for the whole work day on the day I was injured? does anyone have answers for these questions. I know this is a minor injury, but I don't want to be worked over by my shady boss.

Your employer should pay for everything that has to due with your injury. If you paid for your meds out of pocket I would submit it to your boss to get paid back. good luck and welcome to the site. BTW what state are you in?

RE: questions
I will share with you what happened when I was injured at work.

When I was injured I asked my employer to please not turn in a claim to work comp.

I asked them please let me use my health insurance.

My employer told me, "When an employee is injured at work we are required to file a work comp claim, it is the law"

I would think this would be the same in all states, although the state you were injured in is needed to correctly answer this question.

RE: questions
correct Bummer, it's fraud to lie about how an injury occurred either to avoid coverage or create coverage.
if you cooperate with a shady boss and it goes wrong, you're just as much to blame.

RE: questions
Your State is Very Important, and let me Tell You about Broken Fingers. They don't seem like such a Big Deal when You're Younger, as I have Probably Broken every Finger on Both Hands at One Point in Time with the Exception of My Thumbs. Now that I'm in My Late 40's, I can't make a Fist with My Left Hand, and My Right Hand I have Problems Grasping with. I would Suggest even though it's only a Broken Finger, and You May not Miss a Days Work, File a Claim just in Case an Infection or Something else Goes Wrong!

I Wish Everyone in the World would Take just One Minute to Take a Deep Breath and Look at the Wonders around Them. Too Much Time caught Up in the Moment can Cause Us to Miss soo Much that is Good, and given Us Daily! We are just too Busy to See!

RE: questions
The question of being paid for the day will also hinge on what state you are in. Most states do not require payment for time lost until a certain number of days have passed, and then some of those will pay back to the first day if that time is met.

Need your state, bro.

RE: questions
Might just be a good issue to ask your employer, along with will they pay for your medication. Some employers just pay their employee's some don't.

If it is a work comp claim you wish, then you submit a First Injury report, and ask your employer the name of their work comp Insurance, Policy number, and person you need to make contact with.
