Gabapentin

Anyone taking this med, and for what?? My pm put me on gabapentin 600mg to take 1 hour before bed. Supposed to help with my disrupted sleep from pain..

If anyone have took this did you have side effects and how well did it work.

Bronco, My S1 Nerve Root is Crushed and Wrapped in Scar Tissue and will Never Heal. The Scar Tissue is also into My Spine where They Removed the Half of My Disc at L5/S1, so every Time I Basically Move, Cough, to just about anything Else, it causes that Nerve Root to Become Inflamed. I take a Total of 2400mg.'s of Gabapentin, (The Generic Version of Neurontin) a Day to Help Combat the Inflammation, thus Lessening the Pain. It Works to a Degree for Me, but My Pain is starting to get Pretty Bad, due to Arthritis and the Domino Effect. I am Working Very Hard to Stay Out of My Wheel Chair and on My Feet for as Long as I can, so as long as My Liver is in Good Condition, and Continues to Emulsify My Meds., I am going to Continue on the 21 Pill a Day Regimen that allows Me to Walk!! I Hope it works for You, it takes up to 2 Weeks to get into Most Peoples System, so don't be too Disappointed if You don't See Results Quickly!!

Wow still 2400mg, thats alot.. I am to break my pill in half and wait 3 days to see if it helps, if not I am to take the full pill but just before bed.. From what I have read today on this pill carries alot of side effects, have you had them.?? What I'm worried about is mood swings and my anxiety. So far I have been taking floxitine which has xalmed down my anxiety and pannick attacks, and dont realy want them comming back like they were before.. The pm dr feels after I have the rfa done to the facets that it will help with my sleeping... And god I hope so, I cant take the ambien anymore, my pain has got worse and wakes me up and cant fall back to sleep... I have found myself falling asleep behind the wheel and thats the number one reason I quit taking it.. If I dont get a full 8 hrs while taking ambien, I feel competely rundown......

Bronco....it 's used for sleep alot....I would break it and take half for a couple days as you said.....600 mg.....going in without building up might give you side effects...take it slow....Let us know.

I tried it for a week it made my feet sweel so bad my big toe nails turned black

Bronco, I'm on so Many Meds. I Honestly couldn't tell You which Side Effect is From What!! Sorry!!!

i take 900mg's a day for nerve pain and it seems to work but makes me really sleepy

I have had no side effects as of yet, but maybe 1.. It has been hard breathing the last couple of mornings but cant pin that on the med.. Things are blooming here and this is a time of the year when allergies kick my butt, but I am watching it closely.

I'm going to go another day or 2 and then going to the full 600mg, the only thing that it has done for me is makes me sleepy and thats a plus in my book.. I'm still waking up with pain but not as often so I think it is helping..
