upcoming fusion
I live in Minnesota and I'm going to have a 3 level cervical fusion coming up and my question is...is there a time limit on wc payments and can I apply for SSDI before that ends?
The surgeon has told me that I will most likely will not be able to return to my job as I will have very limited mobility.

RE: upcoming fusion
if its like oklahoma i think 102 weeks is the max ttd you can get unless taken to the work comp board and further approved..and theres no reason why you can apply for ssd while out on comp

RE: upcoming fusion
You can apply now, though I think you will need plenty of medical, other than just this surgery to apply. Most say after 1 year out of work to apply, or if it is said you'll be out of work for a full year or more. You need to know, many come out better then before they were injured. I was when I had my first 3 level cervical fusion, and I did return to full duty work. So, you just never know what will take place till the time comes.

RE: upcoming fusion
Thank you everyone! Having the 3 level fusion is just one of my injuries from work. My lower back has 4 levels of disc deterioration ranging from severe to moderate. Also, have had 3 shoulder surgeries, for the most part, better but not great.
Hate the idea of not working, but maybe it's time to let this one go.

RE: upcoming fusion
mtmc....want to wish you the best with your upcoming surgery and a speedy, full recovery....although I have not had any spinal fusions.....I am as you are.....multiple injuries.....same employer.....3 lumbar, 2 right knee, 2 right ankle, cervical, and my shoulder is worse since sugery.....in between these I slipped on the ice and suffered a concussion that lasted 3 months and I worked with it.....I love working....BUT I did retire this time....I was 52 when injured this time , was approved for SSD and disability on my pension....I was afraid the next time I wouldn't walk out of there.....alot of negligence...repairs needed.......very understaffed.......It was a good decision for me....I wish you the best making your decision..Smile

God is never late.

In the end it doesn't matter how many years were in your life but how much life was in your years.
