RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Tizz, worry not.....it is not a fun test but you will get thru it......have someone take you and pick you up...DO NOT TAKE ANY DRUGS BEFORE YOUR TEST this includes over the counter pain meds..take somthing with you to take afterwards even if its just advil.....just think this time tomorrow it will be all over..............
;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Why do I need to have someone take
me & pick me up?? I can drive myself, right?? I have no one to take me since my hubby goes to work at 2am. So im guessing I will need pain meds after the test then?? Im trying not to worry about it but im a BIG wuss when it comes to needles & doctors lol. My mom gets onto to me about it. ~Tizz~ |

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
It is not an easy test I am not gonna lie to you...if you have problems with needles it is gonna be even harder.....You do not have to have someone its just easier afterwards to have someones smiling face to look at....I needed them.... because of the test or because the stress I cant say 100%...... it was a 3 1/2 hr drive to the test and they done both sides and then the drive home....I was sure happy to have my honey there and the pain meds after.... please let us know how it went when you get home

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Now I can undertsand why you old her to have someone take her, JAYNE. I was lost at first. LOL.
TIZZ, the hardest part is hearing about it before you have one. I have had one on my lower and another on my upper extremites. If you have never shocked yourself, well, you will know how it fells. It is done in short bursts. They want to know what damage has been done to the nerves. I was able to drive to both my appointments and drive after them. It really is not that bad in the scheme of things. 8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

Tizz
I had my nerve conduction test at the local neurologist office. Yes, it hurt and I had to take some time to rest after the test before I was able to drive home. |

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Well I just got home from having the EMG
test done. The Dr that did the test says I do NOT have Carpel Tunnel and told me that I now need to see an Orthopedic hand Dr. He also said it CAN still be work related. So now I wait until the Dr. that referred me gets the results and schedules me to see him again. As for the EMG.... The shock portion of it was definatley different and felt kind of strange but didn't hurt. After that was finished I layed on the table for almost an hour im guessing to relax before they started the portion with the needles. The needles were very tiny and it didn't really hurt except for were he stuck it in my fatty part of my hand between my thumb and index finger and in my elbow area and it made me bleed in both of those spots and will probably bruise. So when I got home I called TN WC the nice lady who has been helping me with the adjuster. I told her what the Dr said and she said I will need to go back to the original Dr to be referred again to an Orthopedic. So now we have to get to the root of whats wrong with my hand/finger since its not Carpel Tunnel etc. Anyone have any idea's as to what may be wrong since its NOT what my Dr.'s 1st thought??? ~Tizz~ |

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Tizz, surely we will all help as we can.
Time to start fresh since the EMG came back negative. I ask, did they test this Nerve from your neck to your hand also? Next I say, detail your pain, soreness, stiffness, burning, numbness. Give the proper area of where each is. Number like, 1,2,3. Lets start there first. Also if any, what fingers are problem-matic also. Reply's are intended solely for informational purposes. RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Ok they stuck the needles in my Shoulder
Elbow,2 Different areas in my Arm,Wrist & Hand. Nothing was stuck in my Neck thank goodness. My pain is alot worse now since having the EMG. Most of the pain is in these areas #1 My Right Ring Finger #2 My Elbow #3 2 Swelled spots that look like lumps on top of my Right hand in between my Index/Middle finger and another between Middle/Ring fingers. I have pain in my Elbow on the inner side of arm I have stiffness/swelling in my entire hand and especially on the ring finger on both sides that is visible. I can't make a fist because the ring finger/pinky will not close that far unless forced and causes pain. I hope this helps. ~Tizz~ |

RE: Carpal Tunnel/Repetitive Stress Syndrome in TN-Workers Comp Issue
Okay, there are Tendons that go from your elbow, to your fingers, if these get disturbed, you get very close symtoms to carpal tunnel.
By any chance, take you time and think a while. Do you ever remember hurting yourself at home or work, that would of been your head or neck. And say maybe then got a stiff neck for a few days.
