Confused and seeking any advice
Hi there,
I just recently got injured at my job, messed my left knee up quite nicely. So I've been at the doctors for almost a month now, and just last week my employer said they can't work with my restrictions so they wont let me work. I guess my question is, do they have to pay me workmans comp and if they do how long is it I have to wait to get paid? I noticed it was 3 days from a couple places I visited(I live in Wisconsin BTW), and I wanted to make sure thats true. My boss said it was a "extended period of time" i had to be off till I recieved benefits, which in his words was a month. I hope thats not the case because they wont work with restrictions I get from my doctor and I can't afford a month to not get paid. So if anyone knows the length it takes for it, it'd be appreciated. I not sure what to do because no ones telling me anything and I just rather work and get my checks like I used to. Thanks for any replys |

RE: Confused and seeking any advice
From what I just read, monetary benifits begin after three days. If the injury keeps you from working for more than seven days, then you would receive pay for those first three days. Keep in mind it may be a week or so for the insurance carrier to receive and process your claim.
8-05, Micro laminectomy/disectomy. 10-05 lumbar fusion L5-S1. 2-07 exploritory surgery. 12-07 medical implant, Spinal Cord Stimulator. now receiving SSDI. Jesus died for our sins. Soilders died for our freedom. |

I wanted to work, they said I couldn't. Thats whats bothering me. I'd understand if I took off on my own, but with them telling me i CANT work, it just bothers me. They refuse to work any restrictions, the only solution they had was for me to take breaks every 2 hrs, and they'd be unpaid, so i'd lose 45 mins each day if I did that option. I just hope to get this resolved and over with, or at the very least, find a better paying job that cares. |

RE: Confused and seeking any advice
valture,
You may want to check out the are at the top of this page called "info by state". I would also check with your Human resources person at your work and make sure that they DID file a workers comp. claim. Just some suggestions. Take care and welcome to the forum. Vickie |

RE: Confused and seeking any advice
Claim work comp and you will loose almost everything and get almost nothing at the end!
