Need help in TN
Have been injured since 2006. I fell hurting what I thought was my shoulder now after seeing the shoulder orthopod (who was an idiot) I am being told that this is a back injury possible rhomboid injury?? He is sending me to another specialist. However after the previous doctor for the workers comp said that I could not work this guy is saying that my shoulder is fine and I can work. None of this makes sense to me at all. One doctor says I can not work and the other says that I can. Two questions one is which doctor do I follow? The second question has anyone had this injury before it really hurts and two of my fingers go numb.

I fell and broke my arm, and shoulder,
ring finger and pinkie are numb. Finally got an MRI that shows two disks
also injured in my neck and will have to be removed.
Have you had an mri that is where I would start.

RE: Need help in TN
Generally, a Specialist makes a report to your primary treater, and he/she has the control of your off work status.

You will need to follow up with your primary before being released, and if he/she wants to keep you off work pending the 2nd opinion, they will make the call, depending on the medical report and info gathered from you.

You don't say if you feel you are able to work or not. That is always the best option if possible.

Take care.

P.S. Push your primary for an MRI if you haven't had one yet.

Let Go, and Let God......

RE: Need help in TN
First I would like to welcome you to the forum, there are alot of people here that have gone thru most injuries, I think. We all have had to deal with W/C. Feel free to check out the off topic area where we have a new game starting, and we can share laughs, or just vent.

I would also suggest getting a certified W/C lawyer, if you don't already have one. You can get a free consult and ask questions of several before deciding on one to sign with. I ended up waiting til I had trouble with the W/C and wished that I would of had my lawyer from the start to advise me.

At the top of this page you'll find an area"info by state", which will help you learn about the rules, statues and laws of your state. There is also the "Comp Yellow Pages", where you can look for lawyers.

Hope this helped.

RE: Need help in TN
I have an attorney and so far he has been useless. He is the one that told me to go to the orthopod that was an idiot. Well the w/c specialist is telling me that I have to do what the orthopd says since he is a specialist. The thing that bothers me is that he said that he can do nothing for me and sent me to someone else. So what right does he have to say that I can go back to work. I still can not get a clear answer on that one.
Tried to go back to work today I made it less than an hour and had to leave!!
So now I am waiting to be sent to the back doctor if the insurance approves it.??? So we will see what happens with that.

RE: Need help in TN
Apparently you got the same idiot or his brother that i got..LOL I think it is because they work for the IC . They try to send you back to work ASAP if your hurt or not. I had that happen to me in the beginning of my injury. The ortho doc took pictures of my hand and said nothing was broken, put a thumb brace on me and sent me right back to work to draw blood. Imagine that????? Wearing a brace on my dominant hand and holding a needle!!!!!

Next time they tried to send me to that idiot, i refused and did not have to go back to him. I would see if he is on the list of WC IC doctors. Sounds like it to me. This doc also made me work 2 months light duty, and made my injury only worse. By the time i was thrown out of work due to shoulder injury etc. i was considered overuse syndrome and took me much longer to heal. I wish you luck, and as far as your lawyer,,,,,DUMP HIM!!!! I have heard nothing great about lawyers ( sorry for the ones on here i may offend) but they seem more trouble than they do good. I think cases are drawn out longer because of them also. Many cases take years, because the LONGER they wait the more they make. Sorry that is just my personal opinion. And we are all entitled to that right??????

My injury was Jan. 07 of this year, and i am now going for my PI rating in Dec. with No lawyers involved. I personally can care less what they have to offer me for money as long as they keep my medical open for meds. and treatment when needed. I could give two ^%%$S about the money. Money will not cure me! I have changed my career and personally it worked out better for me in the long run. Wish i never got into this mess to begin with. I would of done it all through my own insurance if my work did not make me fill out the dang form. Glad i am almost done with this lousy system they call wc that does us no good, and only degrades us.

Sorry if i am hitting hard tonight, but i am just so sick of hearing about people paying for lawyers to help them out, and most ( not all ) cause more trouble than good. You lawyers out there, can beat me up all you want, it will not change how i feel. I had a very ill daughter that lost her large intestine due to ulcerative colitis at 18 due to her pediatrician calling her a hypocondriac and saying there is nothing wrong with her. She almost died as it was marked for surgery and she was rushed right in after 2 yrs. asking this doc for testing and ended up losing her whole intestine while the doc preforming the surgery asked her father and I why we waited so long to get anything done for this poor child.

She lived with a colostomy bag for 2 yrs. When this was all said and done, 6 yrs later, just last month her lawyer after sucking the poor kid dry to pay for every darn stamp, paper printed etc. dropped her case because they said they did not have a case. Now she has to live with her scaring and the mental fear of doctors for the rest of her life.

It makes me sick to see them drag this on for so long and all the thousands of dollars it cost me also for depositions being video'd in NYC etc that never happened. I wish you luck.

RE: Need help in TN
My attorney quit on Thursday I guess he decided that he just did not have what it takes to do this?? Who knows. Anyway hired another one on Friday. I really have no choice but to get some help with all of this along with being hurt it is driving me crazy. Still can not work I tried like I said on Wednesday so I am sure that they will fire me next week. I am supposed to see the back doctor on wednesday so we will see what comes of that.
Sorry to hear about your daughter.

RE: Need help in TN
Thank you. She is doing well now. Works a full time job cleaning Corporate jets, for the red sox's etc. and loves it. They just made her the supervisor of her co. and the girl works her butt off. She just had surgery again, for a cyst that she had while she had the colostomy bag that got worse as they waited for 2 yrs. for her to heal.

She just has to live with the huge scars, and the memory of no one listening to her pain for 8 yrs. while she suffered with this disease. She is currently on anti depressants which is helping somewhat. She is continueing on with her life to be a wonderful child, successful person that i truely admire her for after dealing with so much that she has had to go through these past 6 yrs. Unfortunatly this pediatrician is still working, and so is the colonoscopy doctor that caused her all these problems without a slap on the hand.

Just be careful who you choose for pediatricians, and always listen to your kids when they say they are sick. After the doctor told me she was a hypocondriac and that maybe she had trouble in school and that is why her stomach hurt, still have test run to find out if they are okay. My problem is, i listened to the doctor all those years, and never once did she order a test to find out if anything is truely wrong. Instead she ordered a therapist to talk with, and antidepressant drugs.

doctors often disagree.
the more important question is which doctor will the employer/carrier use?
when there is a medical dispute usually the only way to resolve it to litigate thru the state work comp board

RE: Need help in TN
I hope that the docotr that I see this week can help with some of the problems that I am having with the injury and with the insurance company. The workers comp board has not been much help they are just saying that if I want to sue at this point i can but the attorney that I hired Friday wants to wait and see what this doctor says. So we will have to wait and see once again.
