NY comp question?
My husband is on workmans comp. They are settling his case and leaving the medical open for life. We live in New York State. Because of the injury my husband has been sleeping in a recliner for 3 years!!! Will comp pay for a hospital bed if his doctor perscribes one? He can't continue to sleep in a recliner as he cannot lay flat. Does anyone know if NYS comp will pay for the purchase of a hospital bed? We don't need a fancy one...just one that adjusts. Thanks for any info.
Robin

RE: NY comp question?
yes any medical appliance necessary for the care of the injury is included in comp coverage.

RE: NY comp question?
would this be considered as part of the "medical coverage" if so...he will be getting a script to purchase one asap. I feel so bad that he has to sleep in a recliner and it is actually making matters worse for his neck. He had implants put in his neck and back. If he lays flat he is in unbearable pain but the recliner is a hindrence to a decent nights sleep.
what exactly do we do after we get the scrip from the doctor? Do we just go order a bed or must we clear it through comp first?

RE: NY comp question?
if they dont check craigs list or your local paper for a used one....freecycle sometimes has them...when we moved my mother into a nursing home we gave hers away

;)Workmans comp is not a road you want to travel alone. You need a good lawyer,a great family and good friends to lean on.If you make it thru without losing everything you have worked for all your life, you have come out ahead of the game.....Smile
