My husband was injured 2 years ago and the case is finally coming to an end. After telling him to have surgery on his knee, they fired him because he could not work. His doctor would not let him because they wouldn't fallow his work release. Now, all the doctors, including the WC DR., are saying that this is work related. He needs another surgery to repair or replace his patella tendon and he has bulging and herniated discs in his back. He has to claims. The attorney wants him to come up with an amount that he wants. We have no idea what to say because he has to have 2 surgerys, they fired him 6 months ago so he had been without a job for 6 months and then he will have time off from the job he just found which pays him 1/2 what he made before. HELP

I have been so confused to this whole wc system. Here i am without a lawyer as i have had no need sofar to get one, and there are people here that have said they are needing surgery and not at MMI and being offered settlements. I had my permanent rateing which i am still waiting on now for over a month and how are people being offered something without MMI? This is what confuses me.

I was told you have to be at MMI and my doctor that preformed the rateing told me that i will be getting a lump sum settlement award once the ic contacts me after the rateing. I am left with NO surgeries and left on my own to heal with my hand/shoulder. Doctors all refuse to do the surgery and the doctor also said my medical will be left open for me.

Why is it that people get offered settlements before MMI?

Not really jerking anyone's chain. Just adding up the costs of the needed surgeries and time missed from work needed for recovery. It's not that hard to figure it out. You just make calls and ask pointed question about how much medical procedures cost. My wife's a nurse and if I pester her enough she'll ask the billing office for stuff I want to know.

If your going to make a settlement offer you better have some figures in mind based on real world info. Years ago when I injured my knee and the doc said I would need a knee replacement I point blank asked him how much it would cost. He got kind of wishy washy but finally said to talk to his secretary. She pulled up all the charges and viola we had out costs to plug into out settlement offer.
